When the hay fields are almost ready to be cut, the grass gets so tall it starts to hide the stone walls. On cutting day a cloud of birds follow the tractors around the field, swooping in to snatch bugs disturbed by the cutting. Coyotes often gather on the field edges hoping to pluck mice revealed by the harvest.
